EV charger installation in Orlando, FL

Orlando is two electrical cities, and a charger install looks different in each: a capacity check in Lake Nona or Baldwin Park, a harder look at the service in College Park or Conway.

ORLANDO · TYPICAL INVESTMENT
$650 – $1,900

Short garage run on an existing panel with capacity is the low end. Long runs, exterior conduit, subpanels, or a service upgrade push it up.

WHY THIS PAGE EXISTS

Four things that are only true in Orlando.

If you could swap the city name out of this page and it would still be accurate, it should not exist. Here is what actually changes here.

01

Small services in the older ring

College Park and Delaney Park bungalows still have 60 to 100-amp services in service. A charger is a continuous load on top of that, so the load calculation decides whether load management is enough or the service has to change first.

02

Federal Pacific panels in Conway and Pine Hills

Plenty of 1960s and 70s ranches out here still have Federal Pacific panels. We will not land a new charger breaker in one without telling you, and the estimate says plainly if the panel is the first job.

03

Lake Nona and Baldwin Park are capacity

Newer construction, often already carrying a pool heater or a second AC on a panel built to the minimum. The question is spare capacity, not the wiring, and a load calculation answers it before we quote.

04

OUC or Duke, city or county

OUC serves the city core and Duke the outlying areas. Permits go to City of Orlando Permitting Services or Orange County Building Safety depending on your address, and we file to the right one. Incentives change, so ask us what is current for your utility.

QUESTIONS WE GET IN ORLANDO

Straight answers.

Do I need a panel upgrade for an EV charger?

Usually not. A load calculation tells us for certain, and load-management devices can often avoid an upgrade entirely. We have talked plenty of people out of a $3,000 upgrade they did not need.

Hardwired or plug-in?

Hardwired is slightly more efficient and tidier; a 14-50 receptacle is more flexible if you change cars. We will tell you which fits your setup.

How long does it take?

Most installs are half a day. Long runs or a subpanel can take a full day.

Are there rebates in Central Florida?

Utility and federal incentives change year to year. Ask us what is current when you call — we track them because our customers ask.

Can you install a charger I already bought?

Yes, any listed unit. We are not tied to one brand.

Two cars, two chargers?

Common. Load management lets two chargers share a circuit intelligently instead of doubling your service.
